Agathiyar Malai (Tamil: அகத்தியர் மலை Malayalam: അഗസ്ത്യകൂടം) (also known as Agastyarkoodam or Agasthyakoodam) is a 1,868 metres (6,129 ft) peak within Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary, Kerala in the Western Ghats of South India. The mountain lies on the border between the Indian states of Kerala (in Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram District) and Tamil Nadu (in Kanyakumari district, Tirunelveli District). The perennial Thamirabarani River originates from the eastern side of this hill and flows into the Tirunelveli District of Tamil Nadu.

  1. Dear Friend,
Very Informative blog and lively photos. Aghasthyar koodam is often referred in Naadi palm leaf Granthas by many Maharishis. I had the occasion to visit Agasthya Falls near Paapnasam. There I got the Darshan of Agasthya Maharishi in human form! I could realise only when the meeting was over! Later it was confirmed in readings.
Could you like to join the group on Yahoo (http://groups.yahoo.com/) related to Naadi Astrology. I wish to upload this blog of yours there. Hope you will permit.
I would like to invite you that group. You may like to share your experiences later.

Pothigai Hill is the Second toughest Hill claim, First one is Velliangiri at Coimbatore to my best experience. To go to Pothigai reach Trivandrum in the afternoon time , catch bus to Vithura, from Vithura catch bus to Bonacaud and get down at Kanithadam Forest office Pothigai entry point. Produce 1passport, 1 stamp size photo, original driving licence and clear Xerox copy driving licence and pay 800/- entry fees. You cannot walk in the forest without the Guide. You must catch on Guide, the forest office will help you. That night the forest office will give you accommodation , near entry point. it is like a shed , sleep there , early morning 05.00am the Guide will take you. chose middle of March.

To go to Velliangiri , From Coimbatore Railway station ask where to catch POONDI BUS for 15/- ticket. Poondi bus stop is starting point to Velliangiri Hill. The Forest Department donot charge any entry fee from the Pilgrims , The Forest department allows the Pilgrims only in March and April. No need of Guide, Every edge of the hill , tribals having shop where you can get black tea, biscuits, Glucon d, fruits. At the edge of the hill take 5 Shiva Lingam Dharshan and enjoy the beautiful scenery. It is not a expensive Pilgrimage but it will challenge your entire Stamina. Ladies not allowed in this Velliangiri Hill. You wonder Herbal smell at every Hill
